Overview:
The project was solely led by just an Idea. The motive was to capture the essence of the futuristic bike. The model is owned by Poly Productions. The whole animation is just 17 seconds long, excluding the Intro and the Outro. The Intro was just the captured inspiration of the original owner.
The Main Idea:
The main Idea was to capture the details of the futuristic bike, by using speed ramps camera animations. The animation comprises of total 8 different camera angle shots:
• Dolly In
• Front Wheel Pan
• Whole Bike Pan
• Rear Wheel Pan
• Pedestal to the Right
• Pedestal Down Shot
• Pedestal Front Wheel (Reversed)
• Dolly In (180 degrees rotated)
The Challenges been Faced:
To sync the shots in some order was a bit of challenge. So, the shots were arranged from right to left around the bike and then from up to down angles. To make the movement smoother around a pivot point, empties were used. And the sound effects were a lot tougher to select for the movement of the camera. Mostly whoosh sounds were used.
To make all the cameras fit in a single scene, rather than being in different scenes, it was overwhelming to handle this much in the scene. Project management is a skill though.
The Things been Learnt:
To be able to apply the 80/20 rule in the colors. Got more control over the seamless camera movement and the graph editor.
Got the understanding of reverb sound effect and learnt to create more depth in the sound by using it. Able to hold more control over the workspaces of DaVinci Resolve. The text animations got even better as I used the cross dissolve and opacity in a seamless way.
The Importance of the right size of the model is really important when it comes to lighting. Learned how small changes can make a really great difference overall. Well, 3D is all about those little details we all miss to see.
The Elements that can be Improved
The lighting was something that took the most time and is still not at its best. Still learning how to use those designed sound effects and to mix them. Rendering in this animation was also a bit of downfall, as I was not able to use enough samples, because of the volumetric.
