Overview:
It is my first full video project in 3D space. The main motive was to mimic the real time footage of a flying jet. The whole project was instructed well by CG Fast Track. The whole animation is just 12 seconds long, excluding the Intro and the Outro. I like to do intro and outro as to me it does add depth to my projects. The jet model was also solely provided by the CG Fast Track.
The Main Idea:
The main Idea circulates around the jet flying through the skies, by capturing its motion closely. The animation comprises of total 4 scenes:
• Opening Scene
• Jet Barrel Roll
• Go Pro Shot
• Motion Along the Path (Ending Scene), Shot at 120mm and 23mm of focal length
The Challenges I Faced
Adding the camera shake realistically and not make it whip so much, was one of the overwhelming things. And to make the jet look more realistic. About the sound mixing, it was just really tough to find the matching sound effects that can sync with the speed of the jet.
Tried a lot of times to make the trials of the jet look better. The fake simulation still did well.
The Things I Learnt:
To make the CGI look more realistic overall. And to research on the real-life scenarios, so it’s easy to animate things in the same motion. How to control motion to change the mood of the scene.
The Camera shaking effect, and to implement it the right way as when it is zoomed to larger focal lengths and how hard it becomes in reality to make it stable, or when something passes by it.
The Things that can be Improved:
The sound design could have been made better. 80/20 rule could be improved more, in certain scenarios. The text animation was a bit of a downfall here. And the Jet does gives more of the CGI look.
